Amanda completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of British Columbia, specializing in Human Geography with a minor in Geographic Information Science and Geographic Computation. She also earned an Advanced Diploma in GIS from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, deepening her technical expertise in spatial analysis and data visualization.
During her undergrad, Amanda approached data analytics and research from a geographic perspective. She analyzed health, ecological, demographic and crime data using GIS, and created maps to clearly illustrate the importance of geography in explaining trends in key metrics like crime rates. Through her use of geospatial technology, Amanda discovered her passion for all things data visualization, and loves to transform data into illustrations and infographics that easily tell the story behind the numbers.
While at UBC, Amanda also conducted reviews of academic research literature and had the opportunity to develop and hone key research skills including sampling, research and survey design, in-depth interviewing, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. She also completed courses on research ethics.
As a Project Manager at Sentis, Amanda’s plate is filled with to-do’s. She’s key at every step, orchestrating people and tasks, from project set-up through to delivery. Always with a warm smile, she makes it look effortless.
