Assistant Research Manager

This is an entry-level role for someone starting their career in market research. Candidates must live in BC or Alberta. Preference will be given to those living in Metro Vancouver. We’re looking for someone with a university degree (any field) who is hyper organized, communicates proactively, and takes ownership of their work. This role is a strong fit for someone who thinks ahead, follows through, and wants to build a long-term career.

What You'll Do

You’ll support research projects from start to finish, working closely with senior team members. Early on, your focus is on learning how projects run and executing the fundamentals well, helping ensure everything is accurate, organized, and on track.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project coordination and status tracking. Keep projects organized, identify next steps, and communicate clearly with team members and internal operations to ensure timeliness and resourcing are aligned
  • Survey Review, programming and testing. Review surveys for clarity, program them in our platform, and test thoroughly to ensure they function as intended and make sense from a respondent perspective
  • Data review and preparation. Check data tables for accuracy, identify inconsistencies, and ensure results make sense before analysis begins
  • Building client-ready PowerPoint reports & presentations. Organize content into clear, logical stories and proof charts, tables and written analysis
  • Quality-checking dashboards. Support the setup of online reporting tools and validate data accuracy
Strong performers in this role:

  • Stay highly organized across multiple projects
  • Communicate proactively on Teams, email and in meetings so there are no gaps or surprises
  • Take initiative by reviewing project status, identifying next steps, and confirming direction before moving forward
  • Own their work and are accountable for quality and follow-through
  • Are detail-oriented, with a focus on getting things right
  • Are self-directed learners who are comfortable figuring things out using AI, Google, or other resources
  • Ask questions, share ideas, and contribute to improving how we work
  • Are comfortable working with quantitative data, identifying patterns, trends, and outliers
  • Are strong users of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

This is not a role where you wait to be told what to do – you are expected to think ahead and keep projects moving.

Our Environment

Sentis is a high-performing, collaborative, and fact-paced team.

  • Nothing is too small; we are detail-driven and high standard
  • Our work is custom; templates are a starting point
  • We build on each other’s ideas to get to the best outcome
  • We expect people to think, not just execute

People who thrive here are comfortable:

  • Switching between details and big-picture thinking
  • Identifying patterns, insights and better ways of doing things, not just completing tasks
  • Testing new ideas and adapting as projects evolve
Growth & Long-Term Fit

When we hire at this level, we are making a long-term investment. We’re looking for someone with the potential to grow into a senior role over time, ultimately Account Director or beyond. We invest heavily in development, including:

  • Dedicated one-on-one time with Managing Partners and senior leadership
  • Daily check-ins with your supervisor during your first month, and regularly after that
  • A peer “buddy” for day-to-day support and guidance
  • Structured milestones in the first year at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months

As a privately owned, mid-sized firm, we take a hands-on approach to development. We don’t follow a one-size-fits-all path; we shape each person’s growth based on their strengths. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking on more responsibility over time and wants to build a long-term career at Sentis.

How We Work (Remote & Connected)

We operate primarily as a remote team.

  • Frequent one-on-one and small group video calls
  • Weekly full-team meeting
  • Bi-weekly virtual mixer to stay connected

We also make time to connect in person:

  • Quarterly social events
  • Annual AGM (this year: two nights in Whistler)
  • Smaller meetups throughout the year
Compensation & Benefits
The starting salary for this role is about $60,000 per year. Sentis offers a competitive benefits plan and profit sharing.
